Jammu and Kashmir student Zahid Ahmad Qureshi, who cracked IIT JEE, will get financial relief from thr HRD Minister Smriti Irani. Irani tweeted that her Ministry will arrange for a scholarship for Xahid Ahmad Qureshi.
The 21 year old from Kupwara in J&K has been a terrorism victim. His father was gunned down by terrorists when he was only 2 months old. His mother remarried and left him with his grandparents. Zahid worked hard and cracked the prestigious IIT entrance exam despite all odds he was forced to face. The boy, due to financial constraints, was planning to forgo his IIT seat as we was not in a position to deposit even Rs. 10,000 for counseling.
He had secured the 89th rank in the IIT exam in the first attempt. He said that his first choice was IIT Madras followed by IIT Kharagpur and IIT Mumbai. He aspires to be a software engineer and wants to pursue Post Graduation Diploma in Management from IIT.
