Srinagar : The Committee on Public Undertakings of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today sought detailed information about assistance provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing Corporation (JKHPMC) to the Fruit Growers of the State in the fruit Mandi’s outside the State. It also sought information about the present status of the Fruit Mindi’s of the State. The Committee asked JKHPMC to submit the information within a week’s time to the Assembly Secretariat for the scrutiny of the Committee members
The Committee, which met under the Chairmanship of MLA Mr. Abdul Gaffar Sofi here today discussed and examined the CAG’s Audit para pertaining to the JKHPMC besides reviewed the functioning of the Corporation.
The panel with its members Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani and Er Abdul Rashid gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement of the Corporation.
Detailed discussion was held on storage facilities provided to the Fruit Growers. The Committee directed the Corporation to submit detailed information with regard to storage facilities within and outside the State for examination of the Committee members.
The Committee stressed for launching awareness among the fruit growers for proper grading and packaging of their fruit to achieve better market value of their produce.
The Committee also sought information for the scrutiny of the Committee members on whether the field staff of the department advices the Fruit Growers about the outburst of the diseases right at the initial stages besides suggesting preventive measures against pests and fungus.
Among others, Principal Accountant General, J&K AG’s Office, Dr. S. C. Panday, Director General Accounts & Treasuries, Mr. A. M. M. Jahangir, Director Horticultur4 (P&M) Mr. Showkat Ahmad Zargar, Director Agriculture Production Kashmir, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Managing Director JKHPMC, Syed Rafiq Ahmad and other officers of Agriculture Department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meetin.
