Labour deptt imposes Rs. 5200 fine on shopkeepers

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 21 – On the directions of District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, a team of labour department headed by  Assistant Labour Commissioner, Aamir Choudhary, Labour Officer, Pradyot Gupta and Labour Inspector, Mulakh Raj conducted inspections of various shops and establishment under and booked various shopkeepers for violating the provisions of J&K Shop and Establishment Act, 1966.

About sixteen violators were  booked on spot and a fine of Rs. 5200 was recovered from them . Ten notices were also served to the defaulters by the inspection team, which visited Gole-market, Dogra Chowk, Lambi Gali, Samaj and Bus stand areas.

The shopkeepers were directed to observe close day on Monday. They were further directed to strictly adhere to the labour laws in letter and spirit, especially about non-employment of child labour in their establishments.
