JAMMU, OCTOBER 24: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ch Lal Singh today inaugurated 1st Crab -E- Con, a conference on breast cancer, jointly organized by North Zone Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Radiations of Hope (a cancer care initiative by Dr. Deepak Abrol) and Maharishi Dayanand Hospital & Medical Research Centre.
Oncologists from Northern India including UP & Bihar were involved in conceptualizing the idea of the conference, which discussed breast cancer threadbare, including research and treatment from normal to high end technical advances.
NZAROI felicitated the Minister, who was also the Chief Guest on inaugural ceremony.
Secretary, Dharmarth Trust and Vice Chancellor of SMVDU Dr. S.K. Jain was the Guest of Honour.
On the occasion, students from SMVDU presented Sarswati Vandana followed by screening of a documentary film by pink chain cancer awareness campaign.
Dr. Deepak Abrol, Convener of the conference and State Coordinator, Pink Chain, said that the film was conceived keeping patient’s perspective in mind and explained various activities of Radiations of Hope and foundation of Cancer Research Group, CRAB (Cancer Research & Analysis Bureau)- a Jammu based Cancer Research Group with a Pan India Presence.
Vice Chancellor SMVDU and President NZAROI also addressed the gathering.
Later, LBN CROWN of honour was presented to Ch. Lal Singh by the organizers.
In his address, Ch Lal Singh stressed the need for Cancer Research and conferences of similar nature. He said patient interest should always be close to ones heart and asked medicos to work with missionary zeal and conviction towards society. He also emphasized the need of having such scientific conferences for doctors to continue medical education, so that they can stay afresh and updated with latest advances in medical field and research.
