Land Row: Sessions Court, Kupwara books whole family for murder charges

Kupwara, November 18: All the 10 people accused of attacking three members of a family over a land row in July this year are booked on charges of murder by Police over the directions of Sessions Court in Kupwara on Monday. The 10 accused include five women also.

A resident, of Hayhama Cheepora Bala village in Kupwara named  Zafar Ali Khan and his family which includes Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Rafiq Khan, Mugli Begum, Rafeeqa Jan, Jameela Akhter, Kulsooma Bano, and Gushana Bano are undergoing detention in the case of the murder of their neighbours Nasrullah Khan (70) and his son Mohammad Akbar Khan (55) and attempt to murder of Akbar’s daughter Abida Bano over a land row on July 18 this year.

According to Ghulam Mohammad Shah, a senior lawyer and the Public prosecutor, all the ten accused persons had been booked under Sections 302, 354 (outraging modesty of woman), 149 and 452 of the RPC. The orders to book these people have been passed by Sessions Judge, Kupwara, Sikandar Azam.

‘After hearing the arguments from both sides, the judge was convinced that the accused had killed the victims in cold blood,” said the prosecutor.

Zahida Bano, daughter of deceased Akbar Khan who was seriously injured during the incident wanted the case to be heard on a fast-track basis, She said, “Now that the court has booked all the family members under murder charges, we are hopeful that the guilty will be given exemplary punishment and the justice is delivered to our family.”
