Jammu, September 8: RTI activist and lawyer Vilakshan Singh has demanded the immediate arrest of senior separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. He also said that the government should investigate all the cases which are pending against him.
Singh, through RTI Act of the Jammu and Kashmir government, has received all the pertinent information regarding this matter.
“Everyone should be equal before the law. But according to the information which I got, the government is treating Syed Ali Shah Geelani differently. He can’t be above the law, ” he told media persons.
This report that was published in two local editions of national dailes, according to Singh, there are 28 non bailable warrants against Geelani including the sedition one and can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Another important case registered was under section 153 of Indian Penal Code (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) and can be sentenced to 10 years in prison for the same.
4 cases have been registered under TADA Act and one was registered under section 19 of Indian Penal Code.
