Legendry singer Vijay Malla conferred with Sangeet Samrat Samman

Jammu, May 09, 2017:Vijay Mallathe legendary Singer was today conferred with SangeetSamrathSamaan by VOMEDH headed by RohitBhat, ATHROT headed by KanwalPeshin, HARMONY headed by SaurabhZadoo AND Kashmir Performers Collective headed by Manzoor Ah Mir, on his 5th Death Anniversary at Abhinav Theatre at a function “UFF TE KARAKH NA” a musical tribute.
Rich tributes were paid to the “Renowned Kashmiri Singer Vijay Kumar Malla, Who Passed Away On May 9 2012 following a heart attack at his residence in Jammu.
Malla was a household name in the valley and latter in Jammu as well having perfected his signature voice and soulful singing.
After migrating to Jammu in the early 90s, Malla remained closely connected to his roots in the valley. Migration Did Not Affect His Affection For Kashmir Or Kashmiris. He Frequently Visited The Valley, And Over The Years Continued To Inspire And Encourage A New Breed Of Young Kashmiri Singers. The Songs He Soulfully Sang Left Behind An Immortal Legacy. Inclined Towards Classical Music From An Early Age, Malla Rigorously Trained Himself At PremSangeetNiketan In HabbaKadal. He Learnt The Nuances Of Classical Music From Stalwarts Like UstadJaganNathSopori, Kishenji, BajanSopori, Nasrullah Khan, Muhammad Ashraf And B.K Shair. Youngest Among Three Brothers And A Sister, Vijay Was Born On February 7, 1956 At Habbakadal. He Graduated From S.P College Srinagar. In The Summer Of 1982 He Got Appointed In Song And Drama Division In Jammu. When Turmoil Started In The Valley, He Left His Chandpora Residence In Habbakadal And Migrated To Jammu, Where He Lived Till His Death. In Between, He Also Lived In Mumbai For Three Years In The Eighties, Working With Many Leading Singers Of Indian Film Industry.
In His Short But Illustrious Career Malla Sang Over 200 Kashmiri Songs, And Came To Be Popularly Known As ‘Mehdi Hassan And Ghulam Ali Of Kashmir’. Malla Sung Popular And Iconic Kashmiri Songs Like “ZindahRozanhBaapatChhiMraanLukh…,” Which In Particular Summed Up The Tragedy Of Kashmir. “
Today’s musical tribute was presented by a young and budding bunch of singers alongwith two Renowned Music directors SaurabhZadoo and RishabDorjey who presented soulful and melodious performances of SangeetSamrath Vijay MallajisGazals and songs, the young bunch was headed by a noted singer PinahKumari, who also made an impact with her melodious voice, the youngest performer was UtsavKoul a class 3rd student who mesmerized all by singing SangeetSamrath Vijay MallajisBhajanHarmokhBartalPrarey…followed by a very famous song by Barbie Stanzin a class 6th student with a tremendous talent, Vishal Pandita, SharadPandita, Shantanu, SumeetaBhat, ShevataSaproo, Nitin, Pooja and Bhoomie performed melodious songs of SangeetSamrath Vijay Mallaji as a tribute and won applauds from the audiences, the special guests on the occasion were Prof Ashok Aima VC CUJ, Sh Rajesh Gupta MLA Jammu East, Sh Ajay Bharti MLC, Ashwani Kumar Chrangoo PK and RenuMallaji, The proceedings of the programme were anchored by KusumTickoo and KanwalPeshin. While speaking on the occasion guests applauded the role of organizers and assured all possible help for such activities in future.
