Jammu, August 8: A letter threatening multiple bomb blasts was sent to the offices of SSP Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta and Amar Ujala. The bomb blasts have been threatened for 15 August, Independence Day.
The letters are being taken seriously but can also be the handiwork of mischievous elements according to sources in the police and the truth would come out today. Police sources said that a team would be sent to the post office that the letter was originally sent from. Since the letters were received late on Saturday, the investigation could not be taken up.
The letter also mentions names of different schools and the police spokesperson clarified that teams would also be sent to different schools in the city for ‘gathering information’.
The letter has been signed by one Masood who has threatened to attack 50,000 residents from Jammu city.
The letter titled ISIS 15 August mentions the names of targeted areas in a drawn map such as Jammu’s Bus Stand, Railway Station, Gol Market, KC, Bikram Chowk, Jammu University, Raghunath Temple, Civil Secretariat, Ranbir Higher Secondary School, DPS School among other spots.
SSP Jammu, Gupta told mediapersons that an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
