Jammu, July 23: Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar assumed command of the White Knight Corps from Lieutenant General KH Singh who moves on posting after commanding for approximately sixteen months.
In his farewell message, Lieutenant General KH Singh complimented all ranks of White Knight Corps for their professionalism and dedication and thanked the civil administration for the excellent synergy with the Armed Forces.
Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar was commissioned in 1979 into 15 PUNJAB (1st Patiala) and commanded the same Bn in J&K. He also commanded an Inf Brigade along the Line of Control in highly active CI/CT environment followed by the command of the Counter Insurgency Force in J&K. The Gen offr also held the appt of General Officer Commanding MG&G Area prior to taking over the prestigious appt of General Officer Commanding 16 Corps wef 23 Jul 2015.
The General officer has attended various career courses in India and abroad including the prestigious National Defence College. Also, the General officer has served in a varied operational staff appointments in his more than three decades of illustrious service.
He was awarded the Sena Medal for gallantry while commanding a Company during operations in Drass and Bar to Sena Medal for distinguished service during his command of the Brigade. He was also conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, COAS Commendation Card and C-in-C SFC Commendation Card for his dedication to duty.
The General Officer is the Colonel of the Punjab Regiment since 01 Mar 2015. He is a keen sportsman and enjoys Golf.
On taking over, Lieutenant General Nimbhorkar paid floral tributes to the martyrs at ASHWAMEDH Shaurya Sthal. He exhorted all ranks of White Knight Corps to continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm and be always combat ready.
