Jammu: Life in Jammu was affected for a short while in Jammu on Saturday by a protest shutdown called against cow slaughter and a beef party held by a state lawmaker.
Shops, educational institutions, public transport and other businesses remained closed in Jammu city on Saturday because of a protest shutdown called by the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) during the first half of the day.
The shutdown has been called against cow slaughter and holding of a beef party by independent legislator Engineer Rashid earlier this week in Srinagar.
Pretests took place across the city which were later foiled by Jammu Police in order to maintain peace in the city. During afternoon, most of the shops started opening at areas like Gandhi nagar and Satwari, while the areas across the Tawi bridge remained tense with protests from various parties.
