KATHUA, JULY 16- A team of the legal Metrology Department Kathua headed by the Assistant controller Legal Metrology Ajay Kumar Verma and comprised by Inspector Legal Metrology, Kathua and Dayalachack. Vicky Sharma and Devi Lakhanpuria conducted intensive checking of various business establishments including Karayana shops, Provisional Stores ,hardware stores, Sweet Shops, Iron/ steel Traders, milk shops , rice mills Veg/ Fruit Sellers, Ration Dealers, Bakery shops, Jewellers, Shops, Bars & Restaurants, Atta Chackis at Chann Arrorian, Dayalachack, Ramkot ,Billawar, Phinter, Mandli, College Road Kathua ,Parliwand,Hatlimore, CTM, Hatli road, Main Bazar Kathua and adjoining areas.
During the inspection of 60 traders, 13 were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Standard of Weights and Measures Enforcement (Amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules and a penalty of Rs14000 was imposed on the erring traders.
The Department directed all the traders to use only verified Weights and Measures for Business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Customer care Number on the Commodities to be sold in package Form.
The Department has also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices to cheat the innocent Consumers and also appealed to the Consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities.
