LMD team charges Rs 9000 fine from erring traders

RAMBAN, AUGUST 04-  A  team of  Legal Metrology Department (LMD) headed  by Assistant controller, Kapil Jamwal   conducted inspection of various business establishments  on the national highways from Batote to Ramban and booked   several traders   for violation of Legal Metrology Act.

The team penalized 4 traders on the spot and charged a total fine  of Rs 9000 from them.

The LMD team directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Consumer Care Number on the commodities to be sold in package form.

The department has also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices and appealed the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities.

    department is responsible, they must organise camps or install cannopies so that traders can get their instruments stamped. first they r not doing their duties legitmately. a team of two from department visited banihal a few months back in the evening when most of the market was closed, bt they didnot appear in the morning,to check and stamp the instruments of traders
