SONAWARI : Describing present era of Jammu and Kashmir a golden period of development and prosperity, the Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar lone said that to provide basic amenities including road network, adequate water and power supply, better educational and health facilities, irrigation facility at their door step has been prioritized by the present dispensation to transform the socio-economic life of the people especially of those living in far flung and hither-to neglected areas.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a mammoth gathering at Sonawari constituency after laying foundation stone of two water supply schemes here on Tuesday.
Mr. Lone laid foundation stone of water supply scheme at Gulamyari of Hajin block of Sonawari Constituency coming up at the estimated cost of Rs 3.9 crore which would suffice the need of 8 thousand souls of 9 villages of the area.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone of water supply scheme at Baniyari Sharki in Sonawari Constituency on which Rs 3.85 crore would be expended and would cater the needs of 7 villages comprising of 9 thousand souls.
Mr. lone said to provide basic amenities to people and improving their socio-economic profile is foremost responsibility of every government and the present government is making every effort for equivitable and sustained development of all the three regions of the State.
Referring to the developmental scenario of Sonawari Constituency, the Minister said that during last five years all- round development of rural areas has been given focused attention and State has witnessed unprecedented development.
On this occasion, the local leaders appreciated the role and contribution of the Minister for development of Sonawari Constituency.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr. Shah Faisal, S P Bandipora and other district officers, besides large public representatives were present on the occasion.
