Monitors rescue, relief operations, directs for shifting people at safer areas
SONAWARI: Continuing visiting flood hit areas of Bandipora district; the Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today visited Tulzua, Ganstan, Harinara, Sumbal, Gund-jehangir, Hakbura, Chandergir, Bahramabad, Hajin, Naidkhai and other vicinities of Sonawari and Pattan areas to ascertain the ground position and take appraisal of the flood situation, besides monitored ongoing rescue and relief operations.
The Minister visited thoroughly flood hit areas of these Constituencies and took stock of the situation that has arisen due to incessant rains and flash-flood.
SDM, Sumbal, Superintendent of Police, Bandipora, besides other Engineers and officers of the district administration accompanied the Minister.
The Minister interacted with the people of affected families and expressed solidarity with them. He said that government is taking all measures to help the people in the present time of natural catastrophe.
Mr. Lone said that the first concern of the administration is to shift the people at safer places ensuring that no loss of human lives take place. He directed the district administration to make all efforts to ensure supply of essential commodities and medicines in the area. He also directed for keeping health institutions functional round-the clock for the convenience of people.
The Minister also directed the administration to remain vigilant and stressed them to be at the beck and call of the people whenever required so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience at this moment of natural calamity. He also directed for shifting people entangled in flood hit areas to safer places.
