Jammu, April 9: Non-Kashmiri students at the institute yesterday demanded a CBI probe into the issue that raised in NIT Srinagar, last week.
The non-Kashmiri students yesterday appealed to the HRD and Home Ministries to intervene and order a CBI probe into the matter which is covering up the brutalities of the state police.
Nearly 1,500 Non-Kashmir students continued to boycott their classes for the eighth consecutive day.
A Non-Kashmiri NIT student told a local daily on phone saying, we have halted our protest demonstration for Friday prayers and the first Navratra.
“Our agitation is not communal and we respect all religions. There is a mosque on the campus where people come for Friday prayers and it was the first Navratra as well so we do not want to disrupt religious sentiments of any community,” said the student.
Though the situation remained peaceful on the campus yesterday. “
A Non-Local student said, we will provide the evidence to the CBI only so that justice can be done.
The J&K Government had ordered a magisterial probe on the NIT issue under Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazir Ahmed Baba, who has to submit his report in two weeks.
The outstation students have appealed for CBI probe into the events alleging that the magisterial probe cannot be trusted.
The non-Kashmiri students yesterday again raised their demand for shifting the campus out of the Kashmir valley.
