Kathua Police has arrested the main accused being involved in the shootout in the office building of Truck operators Union at Govindsar, Kathua on September 16, 2014 .
Reports revealed that a shooting incident had taken place in the office building of Truck Operators Union at Govindsar, Kathua in which the president of Truck Union, Kuldeep Singh @ Kingu S/O Harnam Singh R/O W.No. 08 Kathua and others had fired upon the members of rival group which resulted into the death of one excise Guard namely Kuldeep Sharma S/O Babu Ram Sharma R/O W.No. 02 Kathua while two other persons namely (1) Mohinder Singh S/O Sardar Singh R/O Rajbagh (2) Bhupinder Singh S/O Lahna Singh R/O Rakh Lachhipur Kathua had also sustained bullet injuries and got seriously injured who were shifted to GMC, Jammu for further treatment . In this regard a case FIR No. 327/2014 u/s 302,307,147,148,149 RPC, 3/25 Arms Act stand registered at Police Station Kathua. A special investigating team headed by Shri Yogesh Sharma, Addl. SP Kathua, Shri Mushim Ahmed, DSP Hqrs. Kathua, SHO P/S Kathua was constituted by SSP Kathua to investigate the case.
Acting promptly after the incident the Police swung into action and 04 persons involved in the incident namely (1) Harbans Singh S/O Joginder Singh R/O W.No. 14, Kathua (2) Manmohan Singh @ Kawa S/O Harnam Singh R/O W.No. 08, Kathua (3) Deepak Raj S/O Som Raj R/O W.No 12, Kathua (4) Ankush Paral S/O Sohan Lal R.O W.No. 08, Kathua were arrested form Govindsar and other parts of District Kathua. However, the prime accused namely Kuldeep Singh @ Kingu S/O Harnam Singh R/O W.No. 08 was absconding after the incident. His personal Bank Accounts were freezed and a look out notice was in the process of being getting issued.
Sr. Superintendent of Police Kathua had constituted different Police teams to arrest the main accused. The teams raided the different locations at Jammu, Pathankot, Kathua and others parts of State and finally succeeding in apprehending the accused late midnight on 17/18.09.2014 while the accused was trying to flee towards Punjab via Ravi river.
