Jammu, October 27: A case of Disproportionate Assets has been registered against Major General VK Sharma and his wife Kiran Sharma. Central Bureau of Investigation/Anti-corruption Bureau, Jammu have presented a challan against the couple on Monday.
The case was registered after the department received a complaint from Brig Sanjeev Grover, who was Brig Adm for the GOC-in-C of Northern Command pursuant to the Court of Inquiry held against Maj Gen Sharma.
The Major General and his wife are alleged of possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income. The verification has been made and it was found out that within a period from January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2012, the couple acquired assets worth Rs 74,00,939, which were disproportionate to their known source of income.
There are a number of bank accounts held by Major General VK Singh and his wife in separate banks. The couple is in possession of real estate properties and unexplained assets of approximately Rs 1,13,51,195.
