Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, MARCH 10: Police and security forces have been put on high alert across Kashmir as they have got some valid hints about militants planning a major strike, sources told a local Daily.
According to intelligence reports, militant handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) have directed their men to increase the attacks on security forces as they have suffered major blows since the beginning of this year.
The source which did not want to be named said that it is the successful operations carried out by Police, Army and paramilitary forces during the past few months, which have frustrated the militants and their bosses sitting in Pakistan. They are desperate to make their presence felt and have been losing men.
Police have developed a strong intelligence base during the past months and it has proven very helpful in eliminating the militants. They (militants) are on the run and are planning for something much bigger now.
A group of more than 10 militants are believed to be trapped at Awantipura in south Kashmir and a few militants have been trapped on city outskirts near Hazratbal.
The police alongwith the defence forces have opted for new ways so that the militants can be kept off the coast. Forces are working in close coordination with each other and have succeeded in breaking the back of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
The official also added, “The possibility of a major strike in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be negated and we are prepared to thwart any such situation.”
