Major Tragedy Averted in Kashmir valley; Army Recovered Three IED’s



Kupwara:   A search party of Army operating in the area of Warson, 5 Kms from Trehgam Town of Kupwara district, detected three IEDs hidden in the hollow trunk of a tree along with other war like stores in the fringes of Gazrial Forest near Khazan Mati Ridge at late evening on 21 February 2015.

Based on the specific intelligence inputs received from a unit source, the troops of an Infantry Unit carried out a search operation in the forested area on Khazan Mati Ridge close to Gazrial village. The search resulted in the recovery of three IEDs, two weighing 5 Kgs and one weighing 1 Kg along with 3 Mortar Bombs, 3 UBGL grenades, 61 rounds of AK47 and one Chinese Pistol with magazine. The IEDs were kept in ready to be used position with complete circuitry.


A major tragedy was thus averted by the recovery and destruction of these IEDs and the ill designs of the militants who intended to cause violence were thwarted once again by the alert troops of the Army.

Meanwhile army and local police has launched an search operation in an forest area early this morning again so that to sanitize whole area.
