JAMMU, Sept 23: The body of Sydney road accident victim Malkeet Singh, son of Kulwant Singh of Bhour Camp Chatha Farm near here has arrived in Jammu after the intervention of Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh.
With profound grief and sorrow, we inform the sad demise of our beloved S.Malkeet Singh S/O S.Kulwant Singh R/O Chatha Farm near Gurudwara Sahib. Cremation will take place on 24-Sept.-2017, Sunday at Bhour Camp, ward no.2 cremation ground at 12:30 pm.
Dr Jitendra Singh who was on the tour of North Eastern states during the time of accident and after he came to know about the accident from a group of people from Malkeet’s family who had approached his 13-A Constituency Office at Gandhi Nagar here, he immediately took up the matter with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Though sending back of the body from Sydney, Australia was a very difficult job but Swaraj taking up personnel interest on the intervention of Dr Jitendra Singh got all clearances besides arranging all expenses required for air lifting body to India.
His mortal remains were transported to India by Thai flight No BKK TG 476 which departed from Sydney yesterday and reached Delhi today early morning by flight BKK TG 331 at 02.15 hrs.
It may be recalled that two youth from Jammu met with a road accident at Sydney in Australia earlier this week which resulted into the on spot death of one of them and critical injuries to the other.
The deceased was identified as Malkeet Singh while his friend Navneet Singh, son of Dalbir Singh who also belonged to Chatha Farm near, here is battling for his life with critical injuries. The deceased had left India only two months back to study Business Management in Alphacrucis College, Sydney Australia.
According to reports the accident took place when the Sedan Car the duo was travelling in hit an electrical pole at Carrington Road, Londonerry, in Sydney’s North West. Malkeet Singh, who was sitting in the back seat, reportedly died on the spot while his friend who was in front seat sustained multiple injuries and was shifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Driver of the car, who too was a youth and a local friend of the victims, escaped serious injuries. However he was also taken to hospital as a precaution and mandatory testing.
The staff of Dr Jitendra Singh’s Constituency Office at Gandhi Nagar here is in constant touch with bereaved family and two cousins of deceased have reached Delhi to bring body to Jammu, said Bharat Sharma, Samparak Sehadikari of Constituency Office of Dr Singh. Sharma who was in touch with the family from day one of the accident also arranged the telephonic talk of the family members with Dr Jitendra Singh.
