Man involved in thrashing J&K traffic cop arrested


Police on Thursday arrested a man who along with another man had thrashed an on duty traffic policeman yesterday near the Residency Road in Srinagar.

A police official said that on 13.06.18, traffic officials deputed for checking illegal parking for smooth flow of traffic at Residency Road  towed an Alto Car bearing reg. no:- JK05F 9966 , to which the owner objected resulting in scuffle with traffic official deputed.

“Police party of police station reached on spot and took cognizance of the matter in which erring driver was taken into custody  and vehicle in question was also seized, ” the official said.

“In this regard FIR No 50/2018 u/s 353 RPC stands registered and all efforts are on to arrest another accused,” he added.

It is Pertinent to mention, A traffic cop was thrashed by some people on Wednesday here at Residency Road for allegedly stopping them from parking their vehicle illegally. A video in this regard has gone viral on social networking sites.

In a 54-second video clip, a traffic cop is seen thrashed by a group of commuters after he chased a driver forcing him to ram his car into other vehicles.
