Market checking intensified in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22: According to the Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization a team of Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, District Srinagar, inspected various Food Business Establishments today in various areas like Chanapora, Sanatnagar, Tengpora, Bemina and Rambagh etc.

During the inspection 200 cakes which were packed in unhygienic condition and were unfit for human consumption, were destroyed on spot at Sanatnagar and the sample of the same has been sent for analytical purposes. In addition many Food Business Operators dealing with the bakery items were inspected and many bakery and confectionary items were also destroyed for having excessive colouring matter. Rotten vegetables and fruits were also destroyed on spot.

The inspecting team also seized 880 packages of Chocoflakes (Chocobeam) from a wholesale dealer at Tengpora which was relabeled with the fresh date of package.
