Security forces have started a massive combing operation along the strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway near Jhajjar Kotli in Udhampur district after suspected terrorists attacked a checkpoint this morning.
Terrorist fired shots at Security forces manning a checkpoint in Jhajjar Kotli area when a truck they were travelling in, was signaled to stop, official sources told.

“During a routine checking at a `naka` (check-post) near the Jhajar Kotli police station, one gunman fired at the paramilitary trooper and fled into a lane nearby. The area has been cordoned off,” the police said.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, there were at least 2-3 terrorists who had entered into the area in a truck coming from the Kashmir side.
The police have intercepted the truck and recovered one AK-47 and three magazines, besides several clothing items. The driver and the conductor have also been taken into custody.

Official sources believe that 2-3 militants are on run around Suketar village near Katra crossing. The security around Vaishno Devi shrine has also been beefed up after the surprise militant attack.
SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta told that terrorists attacked the forces when the truck was being searched at the checkpoint.
