Massive Cricket betting racket busted in Channi Himmat
Jammu, January 22: Six bookies arrested in Channi Himmat area last evening for running a cricket betting racket from a house.
The raid was conducted by a team from Channi Himmat police station on the house after receiving specific information and the racket was busted and the bookies were arrested. Police team led by SHO Channi Himmat police station, Inspector Sajjad Haider, made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
The arrested persons have been identified as Suresh Pachnanda, son of Raj Kumar of Channi Himmat, Suresh Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan Gupta of Purani Mandi, Arun Kumar, son of Gori Shanker of Mast Garh, Rakesh Singh, son of Janak Singh of Chinore, Paramjeet Singh, son of Narinder Singh of Kanak Mandi and Ishant Gupta, son of Vinod Gupta of Talab Khatikan. Besides an amount of 45,700 rupees, 10 mobile phones, one laptop and diaries were recovered from the spot.

Apart from running a cricket betting racket, the accused persons were also running spot gambling with the people, whose names and numbers were written in the diaries recovered from the spot.
The reports said that a case has been registered against the accused six at Channi Himmat Police Station and further investigation is on to nab the other persons engaged in this illegal business.
