Karwa chauth ‘vrat’ is kept by the women all over north India for the health, well being, prosperity and long lives of their husbands. it falls on day after full moon in Kartik month according to Hindu calendar. Usually wives wake up early in the morning to eat Sargi which mainly includes feni, Katkama etc. The Karvachauth buzz can be seen in every nook and corner of the city with Mehndi artists spread across the length and breadth of the city. Traditionally, people are looking for fenis, katlama to buy as they are the ritual-dishes of morning sargi for womenfolk.
Gupta feni house is in business for the last 32 year. He was first person to start the business of feni in the local area. Owner Mr.Krishan lal gupta said that they have a very good reputation in market as they make fenis without mixing of any other things. The feni is 100% pure with no added flavours, he said. They are proud distributer of fenis all over the Jammu division from Bishnah to Kishtwar and from Basholi to Bani. Gupta feni house is only wholesalers but retailers as well.

Their cooks comes from the Kanpur, Uttar pardesh, who bi-annually come to Jammu on the eve EID and karva chauth. Head chef said that “he has been coming to Jammu since 10 years and response of people of Jammu is always overwhelming”.
