Mehbooba gets another jolt: Senior leader Mehboob Iqbal quits PDP, Join NC


SRINAGAR: Yet another jolt for Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP as a senior leader Mehboob Iqbal quits the party & joined the National Conference leading the party to be in complete disarray.

Iqbal, an erstwhile bureaucrat  contest elections from Baderwah in the year 2014 on PDP ticket.

Former Peoples Democratic party (PDP) leader Mehboob Iqbal along with President Municipal Committe Bhaderwah Dr Shahid Mughal on Monday joined the National Conference at Jammu.

Iqbal, a former Divisional Commissioner, had joined PDP in 2012. He contested polls on PDP mandate from Bhaderwah in 2014 and secured 16,553 votes.

Both Iqbal and Mughal joined National Conference in presence of NC vice president Omar Abdullah and General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar.

“We are delighted to announce and welcome senior PDP leader Mehboob Iqbal (IAS retd.) and President Bhaderwah MC Dr Shahid Mughal into National Conference.Both joined in presence of party vice president Omar Abdullah and party functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan Jammu today,”  NC said on its official Twitter handle.
