JAMMU, March 11: The government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to suffer more delay as PDP has now decided to wait for the local body and Panchayat elections to over so as to test the ‘political’ ground, say highly placed sources.
The senior PDP leaders are of the view that the party should first prepare itself for the these two local elections as it will test PDP’s potential on ground before the government formation. This will also provide the PDP a good assessment of the ground reality of the party’s position in Kashmir.
A senior party leader told DE that the local bodies elections is the right time and place to test the decision on waiting for an alliance with the national party at the Centre. The local bodies election will clearly say how the Kashmir populace has reacted to PDP’s conditions with the BJP on government alliance, the leader said.
He further said that the if the party came out with good results in these elections, it will help the PDP to tell the BJP that unless the national party agrees to its conditions, government formation in an alliance may be a long shot.
