Srinagar, February 22: The president of PDP, Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has once again hinted towards of re-stitching an alliance with the national party.
She said that the former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in his tenure of 10 years in The PM office but did not show enough courage to visit Pakistan. On the other hand, Narendra Modi decided to visit Pakistan one evening and next day, he was at Pakistan sipping tea. Also, another Prime Minister from BJP, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, went with a bus to Lahore even at a time when militancy was at its peak in Kashmir.
Though Mehbooba has called her father’s decision to form government by stitching an alliance with BJP last year, ‘a big sacrifice’ but she also justified his decision by saying that he wanted to end the political uncertainty prevailing in the state at that time.
She said that her father was criticised by everybody. He was told that this decision will cost him in next Assembly elections in 2020. But he still joined hands with BJP to end the sufferings of people and put J&K on a path of development.

She also claimed that her father repeatedly said that only that Modi with a huge mandate could take J&K out of political uncertainty if he (Sayeed) could convince him that India and Pakistan had to work together for the welfare of J&K and the entire the sub-continent.
Mehbooba also brought up that the trust deficit that has emerged between New Delhi and Kashmir can only end if PDP joins hand with BJP.
She said that Kashmiris have grown cynical of everything that is coming from New Delhi. They doubt Delhi and Delhi doubts them and that was the reason why Mufti Saheb sacrificed and joined hands with BJP.
The talk over government formation in the state between BJP and PDP has been already started since last week. The meeting has held between BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to discuss details of government formation at her Fairview residence at the Gupkar Road.
Sources said that Mehbooba, after the meeting came up with the view that if BJP would help fulfil the dream of her late father, only then she would embrace the party.

She said that the holding of the chair of Chief Minister in the state is worthy only if it fulfils the dream of Mufti Saheb and help J&K in becoming the bridge between India and Pakistan. If hostilities between India and Pakistan continue, then this chair is not worth anything she opined.
The PDP president will leave for New Delhi today to attend the Parliament session that starts from February 23.
