Mehbooba to meet PM in next 3 days
Jammu, January 20: If reports in a local daily are to be believed, the PDP president and apparent candidate for the Chief Minister’s chair in the state Mehbooba Mufti is going to meet the Prime Minster Narendra Modi to discuss some details ahead of taking oath as the 13th and the first woman Chief Minister of J&K in the swearing-in ceremony likely to held anytime after January 26.
The reports also suggests that PDP has cleared the air regarding differences between PDP-BJP and move ahead with decision made by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the government reformation. However, there is a absence of any official statement till now.
As per a local daily, all the interim arrangements have been finalised regarding the swearing-in ceremony to be held any day after republic day. Also, the meeting is going to happen with the Prime Minister Modi within the next three days and the duo is speculated to lay emphasis on the distribution of funds needed for the state. The reports also said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to join in the meeting.
However, with the rumors of both the coalition partners parting ways , parties witnessed troubled time in the recent past. There were also the speculations of Congress making inroads into the State. But everything put into rest after the news starting floating in after January 17 of Mehbooba sending feelers of continuing with the coalition.
The daily has also reported that PDP has set certain condition like return of power projects and increase in the Central grant.
“The meeting between the Prime Minister, Union Finance Minister and Mehbooba will take place any time within the period of three days. There are already back channel talks in full swing. It is also expected that the Union Finance Minister and Mehbooba will address the press in New Delhi about the latest developments,” said a insider.
The decision of holding the oath ceremony after January 26 because of security related issues involved till the republic day functions.
