Jammu, February 5: Speculations are rife that the PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti may meet Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, over the weekend for final talks over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Local leadership of both PDP and BJP believe that this meeting can pave way for the process of government formation, which has been lying in limbo since the death of former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Mehbooba met the regional party members here at the Gandhi Nagar office yesterday.
After, the former CM’s death, this was Mehbooba’s first visit to party headquarters in Jammu. Mehbooba Mufti will be addressing the party workers from Jammu today.
The party workers in Jammu have expressed complete faith in Mehbooba’s leadership backing any decision that Mehbooba may take for the welfare of the state.
According to sources, today Mehbooba alongwith other leaders will be travelling to New Delhi. Tow days ago, Mehbooba had conveyed to the governor that she would not go ahead with the process of government formation unless there are confidence building measures in place.
The BJP had asked for a 10-day period from the governor and is supposedly waiting for instructions from high-command.
