Members BCC stages protest at Press Club in support of their demands

DSC_0552Jammu: Hundreds of people from Mahila and youth Wings of Block Congress Committee (BCC), Bishnah under the leadership of Member, Pardesh Congress Committee Sh. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak staged a peaceful protest in support of long pending demands of Tehsil Bishnah.

The Youth of Dogra Sadar Sabha, besides various Sarpanchs and Panchs, Numberdars and Chowkidars of tehsil Bishnah also accompanied the precession.

The procession started from Bikram Chowk and culminated at Press Club, Jammu where a peaceful dharna was staged. The protestors having play-cards in their hands raised slogans in support of their demands.

Mr. Ghambir Dev Singh, while addressing the protestors, highlighted the problems being confronted by the people of Bishnah Constituency particularly the people living near the border. He said that the drive would be intensified by staging such dharnas and protests if the government not to take steps in solving their demands.

He said that Bishnah tehsil has large area which is much far from the tehsil headquarter due to which the people face difficulties while sorting-out any revenue related and other issues. He said for the convenience of people, it is the need of the hour for forming Bishnah tehsil as Sub-Division, separate Tehsil and C D block for Arnia, besides creation of five Niabiats at Majua, Pindi Charkan Kalan, Kool, Jabowal and Prithipur/ Naugran, eight Patwar halqas and re-delimitation of the villages of Bishnah Tehsil wrongly attached with other Blocks & Tehsils.

Raising the issues of erratic power supply and inflated power tariff charged from the poor people of Bishnah Tehsil, Mr. Ghambir also emphasized for opening of Degree College & ITI College for the border people at Arnia, proper infrastructure for Degree College Bishnah, financial assistant to the people whose houses were damaged during the recent rainy season, special recruitment drive in Government jobs and security forces for the youth of border areas of Bishnah Tehsil, one-time settlement of refugees of 1947, 1965 & 1971.

He also demanded enquiry into the fraud committed by the vested interest for enlisting undeserved beneficiaries in BPL list, ignoring the deserved ones.

Other who addressed the protestors/dharna included; capt. Harshvardhan Sharma, Dr. Raghbir Singh, Waryam Chand, Master Balwant Saini, Dr. O. P. Saini, Surjit Singh Sarpanch, K. C. Dogra, Dr. S. K. Dingra, S. Gurnam Singh, Smt. Sureya Begum, Smt. Raj Kumari, Smt. Janko Devi, President Youth Congress Bishnah Satinder Paul, Vijay Kumar Vice President Youth Congress Bishnah, Surjit, Gen. Secy. Youth Congress Bishnah.

Later on, Former Minister and Senior Congress Leader Sh. Gulchain Singh Charak joined the Dharna and addressed the protestors. He urged upon the State government to take necessary steps in fulfilling the genuine demands of the people of Bishnah Tehsil.

Mr. Charak said that he has taken up the burning issues of the area with the Union Government and Central leadership for which he said that the central Government has given positive response. He hoped that the State Government would also take necessary measures in mitigating the problems of the people. He also assured the protestors that he will take up all these issues with the State Govt. including the Cabinet Sub Committee for the creation of the new Administrative units in the area
