Met Department predicts heavy rain in J&K during the next 48 hours


The Meteorological Department has predicted isolated to heavy rain during the next 48 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. The state has recorded the maximum temperature below normal during the past 24 hours. An official from the department warned about isolated heavy rain or thundershowers in both the regions of the state during the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature in the region would be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature would be 25 degrees in Jammu during the next 24 hours. 

The official added that against yesterday’s 14 degrees minimum temperature it was 17.1 degrees and the minimum temperature was a degree below normal yesterday. With around 27 degrees and 15 degrees maximum and minimum temperature in the city, there could be heavy rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours.

World famous ski resort of Pahalgam witnessed two degree increase in the minimum temperature against yesterdays 10.6 degrees. However, there was no change in the minimum temperature at famed ski resort of Gulmarg where it was 8.5 degrees, , which is one notch below normal, after 9.4 mm rainfall during the night. Qazigand recorded 15.7 degrees, Kokernag 14.4 degree and Kupwara 14.3 degrees.

In Leh, the night temperature was 12.1 degrees against 10.3 degrees recorded yesterday while it was 9.2 degrees at Leh. The official added that the sky would generally be cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 24 degrees and 11 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours.
