Srinagar, January 07: As per the notification by the State Meteorological Department, dry weather is likely to continue in the state for the next few days. Also, the rain is likely to fall at the isolated places in the state.
According to the officials of weather department, there might be light rainfall at isolated places across Jammu and Kashmir but overall the weather is expected to remain dry in the state.
In Kashmir, the temperature was above freezing point except at the tourist destinations of Gulmarg and Pahalgam. There was light rainfall in Pahalgam with mercury settled at minus 3.5 degree Celsius during the day and at the minimum of the season during the night with 0 degree Celsius.
The ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir also recorded minus 5.8 degree Celsius to minus 8.0 degree Celsius temperature.
However, mercury at other parts of Kashmir stayed above the freezing point. In Srinagar, the recorded temperature increased by over two notches to settle at a low of 2.9 degree Celsius. Also, the city recorded a minimum of 0.8 degree Celsius the previous night.
Also, the temperature of other areas like Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag towns increased and settled at 3.2 degree Celsius in Qazigund, 0.8 degree Celsius in Kupwara and 2.4 degrees Celsius in Kokernag.
Meanwhile ,the weather department in Leh registered a low of minus 9.3 degree Celsius, a decrease of four degrees from the previous night’s minus 5.2 degrees Celsius.
