SRINAGAR: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment has asked the authorities of forest department to make third party monitoring system more effective and ensure that inspection reports of the works, conducted by the agencies engaged for the purpose, are submitted in time to the Government.
The Minister was reviewing the status of the projects taken up under CAMPA scheme in the State at an officers meeting held here today.
Secretary Forests, Principal Chief Conservator Forests, Director Social Forestry and Conservator Forests (CAMPA) were present on the occasion.
Underling need for focusing attention on plantation, the Minister asked officers to go for massive plantation on open chunk of forest land particularly on the banks of major State and district road so that pollution causing to the environment due to vehicular traffic is checked. He asked concerned officers to speed up work on the projects started across the state under CAMPA.
The meeting was informed that Rs 59 crore stands expended during last financial year on various programmes taken up under CAMPA scheme in the State while Rs 49.50 crore have been earmarked for current fiscal. Apart from this, the social forestry department has incurred Rs 6 crore under the scheme during last financial year, the meeting was told.
