Pulwama 5 April: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight at Gudoora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district while 10 persons have been injured in stone-throwing clashes.
The encounter started just as the joint team of Army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the Gudoora village following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
“Soon after the joint team of forces intensified the cordon-and-search operation and fired several warning shots towards the suspected spot, the officer said, adding that the militants hiding inside the area opened fire triggering off an encounter,” they said as reported by GNS
In the exchange of fire one local militant has been killed.
The operation for now has been suspended till night. The slain militant has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Kareemabad.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people clashed with police forces and CRPF near encounter spot after the outbreak of the encounter. Official sources say that hundreds of people tried breaking the cordon to march towards the encounter spot in order to give a safe passage to trapped militants.
Police and CRPF intercepted them triggering clashes between the two sides at Gadoora. The pro-militant protesters engaged in intense stone pelting at the site of the encounter where 10 persons received injuries.
