Jammu, November 24: A terrorist belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen was nabbed on Monday by a Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
As per media reports, the arrested militant has been identified as the resident of Tral in Pulwama district of Kashmir valley. His name is Shabir Ahmed Malik. He was arrested in the Bhatindi area on Monday afternoon at around 3 pm during a joint operation launched by men of the Special Operations Group (SOG), local police and Intelligence Bureau.
However the police recovered no weapon from his possession but the man was carrying an amount of Rs 47,000. According to a police officer, “The Hizb militant had come to Jammu three days ago and security forces and intelligence agencies were looking for him since his arrival. On Monday, he was caught while travelling in a minibus on the Kunjwani-Sidhra bypass in the Bhatindi area by the sleuths of the SOG.”
The officer added that the SOG has been interrogating the nabbed militant in order to know his motive of visiting Jammu which can be the revival of militancy here. The police is also suspecting that the militant might have visited Jammu to activate sleeper cells of the militant outfit and to conduct a reconnaissance of areas vulnerable to terror attacks.
