Militant Rumours in Akhnoor, Samba; security forces superbusy 

Jammu, January 25: The security in Jammu and Kashmir state has been beefed up because of the information regarding the presence of militants in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district and Samba two days before Republic day.

Security agencies in Jammu are on alert and security checks have been conducted in Jammu-Pathankot highway and the other important points of the city.

The information regarding the presence of militants may have been a rumor but security agencies are not taking the security of the state lightly as the militants cannot let go any opportunity to disturb the peace of the state.

As per the IGP of Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana, the police is making every effort to identify the rumour mongers spreading these hoax information on social networking sites and chat groups. “Once we identify the people, strict action will be  taken against them,” he said as quoted by media sources.

He also informed that a massive manhunt was launched especially at places near Line of Control, and in Samba, close to the international border. Also, all the important security establishments were sealed.

Besides, the Special Director General of CRPF, SK Bhagat who reviewed security at the Vaishno Devi shrine and the base camp at Katra on Saturday and briefed the officials about steps required to boost security.

“The night patrolling has been intensified at Katra. The police have started ‘nakabandi’ at several places in Reasi district. Suspicious activities are being checked at railway stations, hotels and lodges,” said Sujit Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police of Reasi as quoted by the Tribune.

Also, high alert has been sounded in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts by security force to stop militants from foiling the peace of the area.

Nissar Ahmed, DIG of Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range said that the department is keeping an eye on suspects, released militants, overground workers, surrendered militants and special police officers.
