Srinagar, January 07: Police on Wednesday arrested an associate of Hizbul Mujahideen terror group along with other two men for killing a militant of same outfit. The militant was found dead in an orchard in Kashmir in September last year.
As per reports, the killed militant, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, was the resident of Wailoo village of north Kashmir’s Pattan sub-district. Police said that he was killed on suspicion by his associates for planning a surrender and “misappropriation of funds” .
The police has completed an investigation into the case and according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, north Kashmir, Garib Dass, intially it was being assumed that Fayaz was killed during a fight between the members of HM (Hizbul Mujahideen) and its splinter group, Lashkar-e-Islam. But later, police found out that his own contemporaries have killed him for the fact that he was planning to surrender before the police.
Four militants were involved in the murder of Bhat and have been identified as Tariq Ahmad War, alias Javiad, Nisar Ahmad Wani, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone. There were also two associates of Javaid involved in the murder identified as Sajad Ahmad, the driver who helped transfer Bhat’s body, and Irfan Ganai, who helped treat a wounded militant.
