Militants ransack policeman’s house in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR, March 28: Mlitants barged into the residence of an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police and a Constable in South Kashmir’s Shopian district and ransacked their houses and late on Monday night.

The militants fired gunshots in air before fleeing from the spot.

No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.


The recent incident comes just two days after militants in Budgam district abducted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Bhat’s two sons on Sunday, who were later released.

Bhat’s vehicle was also set ablaze by the militants , who threatened his kin and later fled in a car after firing few rounds.

Militants ransacked the house of a police officer in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district and drove off with his son and nephew in his car before freeing the youngsters and torching the vehicle, police said.

The militants forced their way into the house of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Subhan Bhat in Chadoora area late Saturday evening and ransacked it. State police chief S.P. Vaid assured action.

Last month, militants ransacked the house of a senior police officer in south Kashmir’s Shopian district after threatening the inmates of dire consequences if the officer did not quit his job.
