Srinagar, September 07: Four teenagers who were detained last week by Indian Army in frontier district of Kupwara while attempting to cross LOC to take up arms training have told police that they were motivated by a video clip of militants.
During interrogation, the boys identified as Adil Ahmed, Ishfaq, Tahir and Aijaz who reside in Rather Mohallah Krankshiwan, Sopore said that the video was shown to them by a local resident, a private company employee in Sopore, and after watching the video they decided to go to Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) for arms training.
The video that has been shown to these teenagers was of 21-year-old outfit Hizbul Mujahideen’s militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani in which he has asked Kashmiri youth to join HuM.
Police has also arrested the man who is alleged to have shown the video to these boys in age between 17 to 19 and motivating them towards militancy.
Police has said that this commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani has been uploading militant videos and pictures on social media for a long time in order to draw youth towards militancy. The police also added that a lot of pictures of militants of South Kashmir in full battle fatigue and rifles have also gone viral on social media.
