Mir calls for strengthening transport service on Tangmarg route

SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has called upon the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Kashmir to further strengthen the public transport services on Tangmarg route to provide immediate succor to the commuters.
The Minister was chairing a meeting of officers which was convened to review the transport facilities for the people of Tangmarg, here today.
While taking a detailed review of the transport facilities on this vital route, the Minister underlined the need for adding larger capacity buses to be operated from Batmaloo and Pantha Chowk in existing fleet to facilitate maximum number of passengers. He called upon the authorities to monitor the services from time to time to improve the system. He also directed the concerned to keep an eye on the Sumo operators to ensure that they may not charge exorbitant, rates from the passengers.
While reviewing the facilities at various Sumo stands, the Minister directed the RTO to take appropriate measures for suitable expansion of Tangmarg, Baba Reshi, Magam and Chandilora Sumo stands in view of heavy rush of passengers and Sumo operators.
The RTO, Kashmir and Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Baramulla were present in the meeting.
