Mir inaugurates Talent Hunt Cricket Tournament at Kunzar

MirKUNZAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir inaugurated “Talent Hunt Cricket Tournament” at sports field here today being organized by Gulmarg Sports Organization.
As many as 64 Cricket Teams of Tangmarg Tehsil are participating in fourth edition of this tournament. The inaugural match of the tournament has been played between Youth Cricket Club Mulgam and Gurukul Reds Dhobiwan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mir said that sports develop discipline, sportsmanship and sense of quick decision, besides ensure a strong mind and body of sports person which is pre-requisite for creating a healthy and harmonious society, adding that only a healthy generation can face the impending challenges of today globalized era.
The Minister highlighted the importance for popularizing sports culture among youth of the state, saying that their talent need to be exploited, channelized in a right prospective and used for productive activities of the nation.
Underscoring the need for upgrading sports infrastructure in the State, the Minister said that several initiatives have already been taken by the government in this regard. He said that several measures are afoot to upgrade the facilities for sports lovers in addition to their academic pursuits. He said that the youth of the State have tremendous potential, adding that the State has produced ace players in varied sports who have brought laurels to the State participating at international and national levels. He also called for exploiting hidden sports talent by extending high tech facilities at par with other states of the country.
The Minister stressed upon youth to take part in sports activities and avail benefits of the schemes launched by the central and state government.
On the occasion, students, prominent citizens and thousands of sports lovers were present.
