Srinagar: Under its “Akh Akis” programme, Dar-ul-Khair Mirwaiz Manzil today kick-started construction of houses for the deserving flood-victims in Maisuma and Mandar Bagh areas of Srinagar.
This was already announced by Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq during Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid yesterday. He appealed the people to offer donations so that the construction programme is undertaken smoothly.
“Hundreds of flood victims are spending their nights under the open skies in the cold winter since their houses have been turned into rubble due to ravaging floods. People should identify the most affected needy people in different areas so that their houses may be constructed,” he said.
He said names of victims whose construction of houses would be undertaken on November 29 had been recommended by the local Masjid committees and community leaders of that areas. Mirwaiz expressed gratitude to those who have donated for the cause. “There is no dearth of magnanimous people in Kashmir and Insha Allah the mission to construct houses will succeed,” he added.
