Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today informed that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) would allow the Department to provide 35 Kgs of ration per family on subsidized rates.
Replying to a clubbed question of Ramesh Arora, Muhammad Khursheed Alam, Ashok Khajuria and Yasir Reshi, the Minister said the scheme would be applicable from July 1, 2016 with an aim to enhance the quantity of ration over and above the NFSA scale.
The Minister said at present rationees are being provided 2Kgs additional ration per soul in pursuance of Government Order No.45-CAPD of 2016 dated 15-03-2016. He said under the scheme additional 5Kgs food grains over and above the NFSA scale shall be provided to the bonafide rationees having family size from 1 to 6, subject to maximum of 35Kgs per family, adding that 1,26,34,187 beneficiaries have been covered under NFSA.
