MODEL ACADEMY CELEBRATES SENIOR CITIZENS DAY
Jammu : Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER celebrated Senior Citizen’s Day in both its branches to acknowledge the contribution of the elderly people in our society. A special Morning Assembly was held in which the students of the choir group presented a song in the honour of elderly people. This was followed by a documentary, titled “Love Your Elders”, which was shown to the students with the message, “Elders are our treasure, we need to love and respect them”. Mr. Pramod Srivastava, Principal Model Academy commented that senior citizens are the jewel and pearl of the nation as they have got opulent experience to overcome the hurdles of life.
The students of class 6th, of both the branches of the school, visited old age home at Amphalla to celebrate Senior Citizen Day with the senior citizens and distributed sweets and other eatables among them. Lots of smiles and memories were shared and everyone had a great time.
The purpose of the visit was to make the children aware about the importance of seniors in the family and the love and respect needed to be given to them.
In her message to the students Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Management Representative said that younger generation have a great role to play in making the life of their grandparents happy and fruitful. She inspired them to interact with their grandparents on daily basis as they are the assets of the society and can guide, direct and make life worth living. The whole programme was coordinated by Mrs. Manju Vali, Convener Co-curricular Committee.
