To take stock of the situation in the aftermath of Pathankot attack, Prime Minister Narender Modi has reached Pathankot where he is scheduled to meet top security and army officials, who are likely to brief him on the situation. The PM is most likely to address soldiers at the air base, and also hold an aerial survey of the border areas.
Security has been tightened at the airbase which witnessed a fidayeen attack a couple of days back in which 7 security personnel lost their lives despite being warned of an imminent attack by intelligence agencies. What has shocked the nation is the lack of coordination, and failure to neutralize the terrorists before they could carry out the attack.
The security forces after a thorough search have declared the air force station sanitized. They carried out a three day combing operation after getting jolted by the presence of two terrorists who remained hidden during the first day but carried out the attack at the base a day after the government had called the operation over.
Modi is likely to be briefed about the incident, and the security situation. He is also likely to take the matter of border breaches with army, and BSF officials.
