Jammu today witnessed the much awaited “Shobha Yatra” on the eve of Krishna Janamashtami which is to be celebrated on 25 August this year.
The Zeal and enthusiasm could be seen on the faces of the devotees who sang and danced on the jovial tones of Lord Krishna.
The Janamashtami Aarti was performed by the members of the erstwhile Royal Dogra Family of Jammu. The Aarti is a standard precedent to the Jhanki (Tableau) Yatra of Lord Krishna’s idol taken through the old city led by the members of the royal family.
Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh, who is also a Member of Legislative Council, lead the event today.
Yatra commenced  around 5pm from Raghunath Mandir. Several tableaus of different temples and organisations were part of it.

The first tableau was of Raghunath mandir followed by Ram Mandir Purani mandi, Mahila morcha,Kashmiri Mandir sabha Ambphala,Aasaram Bapu,Iskon Muthi,Sanatan dharam natak sabha Diwan Mandir, Braham kumari’s, Pirkho shiv mandir etc.
Children from Sanskrit scholar’s organization were the attraction of the whole event who welcomed the special guests enchanting Sanskrit mantras and the melodious tones of J&K police band and other famous bands electrified the devotees with faith full of fervor and belief.
The Yatra moved through the whole old city and culminated at Raghunath Temple itself.
