The soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote under Uniform Force are engaged in massive relief and rescue operations in the remote areas of the Pir Panjal Ranges in District Reasi. The worst affected areas on the heights of Pir Panjal mountains were cut off due to landslides for past 3-4 days.
The Rashtriya Rifles battalion has established relief camps at Samote, Kandi and Banj. These camps were established instantly once the heavy rains caused devastation in the higher reaches of the mountain range. The soldiers braved inclement weather and cut off routes to reach these areas with relief supplies, medical aid and rations. These columns immediately provided assistance in rescue operations where many dhoks and houses got buried under mud slides and fallen trees which had caused distress to the helpless villagers.
The relief camps at Samote and Kandi provided relief to more than 600 villagers who had been brought down to safer places including mobile phones charging facility so that they could connect and convey their well being to relatives.
The villagers at Samote shouted slogans in favour of Army who yet again proved to be saviours in such difficult times.
