Mufti to visit New Delhi today; very likely to meet Prime Minister Modi
Jammu 26 March Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is visiting New Delhi today to discuss the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to hold a separate meet with Narendra Modi. This is the first visit of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to New Delhi after assuming office of the chief minister in the state on March 1.
Sources higher up in the diplomacy say that the chief minister will hold a series of meetings with several union ministers at New Delhi to discuss the present political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mufti is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a separate one on one meet. The duo are expected to meet on the Thursday Diner at 7 RCR.
It is important to note that the Chief Minister two days earlier had suggested that his government would initiate a gradual revocation process of AFSPA from the state and that he would take the Indian Army on board while initiating the process of revoking the law. He also said that he would not jump to the abrogation of AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir and that Army’s view is important.
The visit is seen by many as important as it comes right after the meetings between the Pakistan High Commissioner and separatist leaders at New Delhi for three days starting on Pakistan day. Also, the adress of the governorr NN Vohra in assembly which hinted at the government initiating dialogue with all the state holders for the resolution of the pending issues.
