Municipal Elections In J&K  in May


JAMMU, March 03: As per reports Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu has conveyed to the government  that they are ready to hold the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls in  J&K in the month of May 2016.

Governor, N N Vohra had recently asked  CEO Shantmanu to work out a tentative schedule for holding of the Municipal and Panchayat polls.

Shantmanu said that  the electoral rolls for the ULB polls will be ready by March 31 and the reservation of the wards for the women as well as members of SC and ST will also be complete by that time and  will be ready to hold Municipal pools in May starting.

Two Municipal Corporations of Jammu and Srinagar, 6 Municipal Councils and 70 Municipal Committees across the state will go under poll where as  notification for the polls is likely to be issued around 20th April.
